This view is of the junction of the roads to Abingdon, Faringdon and Witney at the east end of the village. The original village was based around this junction, and then spread westwards along the Faringdon Road.
This cottage was the village post office for about 35 years from about 1880 to about 1915. The post office was run by Ann Maria Jeffries, nee Joyce, and then by her son, James Henry Jeffries. Jame's wife ran a sweet shop. You can see the sloping line where the side building has been extended upwards. It is one of about seven buildings that have acted as the Post Office.
