This is the main entrance to the building that used to be Cage Lane Evangelical Free Church. It was where Mum used to attend Sunday Service and the Sisterhood. It was also the home of the 21st Woolwich Scout Troop and Wolf Cub Pack. Cage Lane was the previous name of Lakedale Road, so called because there was a prisoners' cage at the junction with the High Street. If you turn to the left you will see the hairdressers (Bryan and Company), where Mum had her hair done for many years. Bryan is still running the shop , but business is slack. When I was young, the shop next door used to be a general store run by Florrie Terras. Opposite the church is the site of the old brewery, which had its own pub, The Brewery Tap, further down Lakedale Road.
This is where the salute used to be taken for the annual Woolwich Scouts' and Wolf Cubs' Church Parade. The parade photograph was taken a little further to the left.
This is the home of Warner Lodge No. 2256 to which Jonathan Herbert Jeffries belonged.
This is 7 West Cresent, Accrington where Mum lived when she was evacuated during the war.
This is the bowling green on Bostall Heath where Mum and dad used to play.
